19-year-old GM Vincent Keymer is Germany’s number 1 chess player.
Keymer was considered a chess prodigy early on. Coached by former World Championship challenger and former TePe Sigeman Chess Tournament participant Peter Leko, he had some spectacular results, among these finishing second in the 2016 Vienna Open at the age of 11, and winning the 2018 Grenke Chess Open, ahead of 49 grandmasters (he himself was rated number 99).
In 2022, he won the Prague Chess Festival Challengers and the German Masters, and he finished runner-up in the World Rapid Chess Tournament. In the 2023 FIDE Grand Swiss Tournament, he finished in a shared third place, scoring 7.5 points in 11 rounds.
He is participating in the TePe Sigeman Chess Tournament for the third time.
